This company has announced a new addition to its Fluropon® 70% PVDF line of coil and extrusion coatings, Fluropon Pure. The Fluropon Pure formula does not include hexavalent chromium, lead, phthalates, and PFOA, allowing the product to meet Living Building Challenge’s Red List 3.0-compliant requirement.

“Fluropon Pure is the result of Valspar’s commitment to sustainability and desire to create products that meet our clients’ changing needs,” said Jeff Alexander, vice president of sales, coil and extrusion division. “We know the architecture community is placing a greater emphasis on not only manufacturing practices, but the formula and chemistry behind products. Fluropon Pure coating makes it easier for users to meet the stringent demands of sustainability programs like LEED® v4 and Living Building Challenge, while upholding industry-leading performance in durability and color retention properties customers have come to expect from Fluropon.”

Fluropon Pure can be used by builders aiming to achieve credits under LEED v4, including: building lifecycle impact reduction; heat island reductionroof; building product disclosure and optimization–environmental product declarations; and building product disclosure and optimization–material ingredients.
