Expanding its LINTEC Durable Goods/Industrial Labeling product line, Mactac® recently announced the addition of a polyester film labelstock with high resistance to abrasion and chemicals. Known as Durafol™, the thermal transfer printable polyester film reportedly enables the production of on-demand, high-performance, variably printed labels

“We are excited to introduce our Durafol high chemical-resistance labelstock to customers,” said Kim Hensley, senior marketing manager for Mactac Performance Adhesives. “The high chemical resistance of the film allows exposure to a variety of harsh chemicals and cleaning agents such as isopropyl alcohol, xylene, brake fluid, and acetone—without compromising the print or top-coating.”

Durafol (LTC01980) features a 2.4-mil white matte polyester film that is coupled with Mactac’s P100 high-performance permanent acrylic adhesive, which reportedly offers exceptional adhesion to a wide range of surfaces, and a 55# white glassine liner. The topcoat offers superior printability via thermal transfer printing and is recommended for use with Ricoh B110CU or DNP R550 thermal transfer ribbons. An overlaminate is not required.

Durafol is used in pharmaceutical and laboratory environments where printed information such as patient identification, sample identification, and batch numbers must remain highly legible to ensure reliable traceability. Designed for applications where chemicals will come in contact with labels, other applications include electronic components, automotive and aerospace, and fluid and chemical containers.
