As you’re probably aware, the recession has hit Michigan’s manufacturing base quite hard, and many people are dealing with layoffs, plant closings and other bad news.

However, we recently received a release on a Michigan adhesive and sealant company that is doing quite well.

Sealex Inc. is located in Harbor Springs, a town nestled along the deepest harbor in the Great Lakes. The tiny waterfront community is a bustling tourist destination, and is not known for its manufacturing facilities.

However, Sealex, a family-owned manufacturer of pre-cured sealants and adhesives, has been ranked by Inc.com as one of the fastest-growing private companies in America. The 2008 “Inc. 5,000”covers sales revenue of high-growth privately held companies through the calendar year ending December 31, 2007.

Sealex earned the rank of 65 out of the top manufacturing companies on the Inc. 5,000, and was ranked 1,538 on the overall list. The company is an industry leader in the development and manufacture of pre-cured sealants. Sealex’s products are commonly used in construction and transportation related applications, including building envelope restoration, metal building applications, and window and door applications.
