“I think it will give pilots away from home an extra hour to do things they may not do if they only had eight hours, like have an extra drink or two.”

 

“It will help but there are other issues related to proximity of rest places and their cost to pilots, etc., among other things.”

 

“Or at a minimum it will decrease the amount of times they fly right by the airport they were supposed to land at.”

 

“Gives some of the pilots more time to drink.”

 

“The only problem with this is the "allow" rather than mandate the extra hour of rest. Some companies would like to have them skip the extra hour and would probably give monetary compensation.”

 

“An extra hour of sleep beyond 8 hours does little. You don't "store" sleep. BTW, how does the FAA define rest? Is it sleep or just not flying..... or something in between. A world of difference...”
