This week in adhesive news, Kiara Nirghin, whom I blogged about a couple months ago, won Google’s 2016 Science Fair with her super-absorbent polymer made from orange peels and avocado oil. Nirghin’s soil additive is a natural and cheap alternative to currently-available chemical options. The grand-prize is a $50,000 scholarship to further Nirghin’s education. Other science fair winners include Charlie Fenske (16), Anushka Naiknaware (13), Mphatso Simbao (18), and team Ashton Cofer (14), Luke Clay (14), and Julia Bray (14).
