Specialty chemicals company LANXESS is raising the prices of its Advanced Industrial Intermediates business unit’s sulfur-based products by an average of 40% with immediate effect. The affected products include sulfuric acid, oleum, and sodium bisulfite, among others.
LANXESS reports that ongoing geopolitical tensions have led to significantly higher costs in particular for sulfur, logistic, and energy costs. These higher costs require a price adjustment outside the regular schedule. The company stated that despite intensive efforts to maintain stable prices, an adjustment is necessary to ensure the long-term reliability and sustainability of supplies.
