AVERY DENNISON: Tapes for EV Battery Cells

Avery Dennison has released a new pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes portfolio for EV battery cell connection systems (CCS). The range of functional bonding and protection tapes are engineered to make EV batteries safer, more efficient, and easier to design and assemble.
Avery Dennison tapes for CCS provide flame-retardant properties, vibration absorption to help minimize sense line-stress, high-temperature resistance to bond materials securely to thermal and flame barriers, and novel ways of construction that can eliminate the need for a top-sheet. They also offer a choice for manufacturers of single-coated tapes for dielectric protection and double-coated tapes for bonding thermal barriers.
“As the EV landscape continues to evolve, we’re working to solve some of the most common challenges in EV battery design and construction,” said Max VanRaaphorst, market manager for Avery Dennison eMobility, Automotive & Energy Storage. “In this instance, the bonding functionality of the tape, along with its ability to provide dielectric protection, helps address the design and safety aspects for battery engineers.”
