Celanese Increases Prices Across Acetyl Chain

Celanese Corp. recently announced global price increases across its acetyl chain portfolio, with the changes taking effect immediately or as existing contracts allow. The company said the increases apply to a broad range of acetyl intermediates, emulsions, dispersions, and solvents used in coatings, adhesives, construction materials, packaging, and industrial applications.
In the United States and Canada, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, and styrene and pure acrylic dispersions are set to increase $0.05/lb; vinyl acetate monomer will increase by $0.15/lb; ethyl acetate and formaldehyde 37% will increase $0.04/lb; VAE based dispersions and vinyl acetate based homo- and copolymer dispersions will increase $0.02/lb; EVA, RDP, MIBC, and MIBK will increase $0.20/lb; paraformaldehyde will increase by $0.12/lb; trimethylamine 100% will increase $0.10/lb; and dimethylamine 100% will increase by $0.08/lb.
In Mexico and South America, acetic acid will increase by $100/mt; vinyl acetate monomer, ethyl acetate, EVA, and paraformaldehyde will increase by $300/mt; acetic anhydride, VAE based dispersions, and viny acetate based homo- and copolymer dispersions will increase $150/mt; styrene and pure acrylic dispersions will increase $200/mt; RDP will increase by $400/mt; dimethylamine 100% will increase by $185/mt; trimethylamine 100% will increase by $225/mt; and MIBC and MIBK will increase $450/mt.
In Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), acetic acid, ethyl acetate, and MIBC will increase by €100/mt; vinyl acetate monomer and EVA will increase by €300/mt; acetic anhydride will increase by €150/mt; VAE based dispersions, vinyl acetate based homo- and copolymer dispersions, styrene and pure acrylic dispersions, and paraformaldehyde will increase €350/mt; and RDP and MIBK will increase €400/mt.
The company also reports that its increase in solvents will be grade dependent across all regions.
