FLEXICON: Box Dumper

The light curtain feature on this new TIP-TITE Container Dumper from Flexicon allows a single operator to load and unload containers without leaving the fork truck. The device automatically stops the machine if someone enters the hazard zone.

October 17, 2026

The TIP-TITE® Box Dumper from Flexicon is designed to provide dust-free transfer of bulk solid materials from boxes, Gaylords, or other rigid containers into downstream processes. A key feature is its light curtain — a non-contact safety device that replaces traditional safety lock doors. With this product, a single operator can load the dumper via fork truck without leaving the vehicle, which helps speed production cycles.

Once loaded in the dumper, the box is hydraulically raised to seat against a discharge hood. The assembly is then hydraulically elevated and tipped until the spout of the discharge hood mates with a gasketed receiving ring on the lid of the receiving bin. The light curtain automatically stops the dumper’s motion if someone enters the hazard zone. Once the hood is properly positioned, the operator activates a pneumatically actuated slide gate, enabling material to flow into downstream processing equipment.

The receiving platform accommodates boxes measuring 36 to 48 inches (915 to 1220 mm) per side and 36 to 52 inches (914 to 1321 mm) in height.

A wire mesh enclosure provides additional operator protection from moving parts. All hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical functions, including a programmable HMI, are housed in a NEMA 4 control box suitable for washdown with water or mild solvents.

The system is available in carbon steel with durable industrial coatings and stainless steel material contact surfaces; or in all stainless steel, constructed and finished to food, dairy, or pharmaceutical standards.
