The Alliance for the Polyurethanes Industry (API) will present recent technical advances with urethane sealants and two-component polyurethane adhesives during the adhesives and sealants technical session at Polyurethanes Expo 2003. The expo is scheduled for Oct. 1-3, in Orlando, Fla. The sealants paper will describe using low unsaturation polyethers in sealant formulations. The adhesives presentation will discuss increasing the viscosity of a two-component adhesive mixture without curing instantaneously. According to the API End-Use Market Survey on the Polyurethane Industry in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, polyurethane used in adhesives and sealants increased by 10.2 and 8.9 percent, respectively, from 1998 to 2000. The 2002 End-Use Market Survey will be released at the Expo. More than 80 technical papers will be presented in 15 sessions at Polyurethanes Expo 2003. API, the event's sponsor, says this year's program is the largest of the past five years.
