TA Instruments has announced the release of its new ARES-EVF Extensional Viscosity Fixture. Extensional viscosity is fundamentally important in many polymer-processing techniques, such as blow molding, fiber spinning and injection molding. The EVF is a polymer melt elongation fixture that can be used with any ARES system with an oven. The EVF uses a unique patent-pending dual cylinder, or drum, wind-up technique. One stationary drum, connected independently to the transducer, is in line with the transducer/motor axis. A second independent rotating drum is mounted to the motor and positioned eccentrically from the stationary drum.
