FLOWSERVE WINS EASTMAN CHEMICAL CO.'S SUPPLIER EXCELLENCE AWARD
Flowserve Corp., Dallas, has announced that its Flow Solutions Division earned Eastman Chemical Co.’s Supplier Excellence Award for its work with Eastman’s Columbia, SC, facility.
Flowserve Flow Solutions Division supplies mechanical seals to Eastman’s Columbia location, one of the largest U.S. manufacturers of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) polymer. Flowserve provides ongoing, comprehensive support to the facility to maximize reliability, minimize downtime, streamline inventory, extend equipment life and reduce costs.

“Reliability is key to being a low cost producer in the PET business,” said Duane Hall, superintendent of operations and maintenance services for Eastman’s South Carolina Operations. “When we have equipment issues, we need a supplier that is responsive and flexible in helping us develop timely solutions. Flowserve has been that kind of supplier for us. They have demonstrated a commitment to quality in providing mechanical seals to our site for many years. The one constant that has always stood out in my mind is Flowserve’s consistent and dedicated service and technical support.”
This marks the first time Eastman’s South Carolina Operations has given the award to a supplier. There are three levels of the Eastman Chemical Co. awards: Excellence, Improvement and Innovation. The Excellence Award process requires that the supplier be a strategic service provider to Eastman; meet or exceed the minimum overall performance expectations; and undergo an Eastman management review.
The Eastman Supplier Excellence Program was created to introduce a continuous improvement process to ensure that high-quality and efficient services are supplied to Eastman. Suppliers are judged based on quality, customer satisfaction, delivery, administrative efficiency, technical support, cost and integrity.
