the Best Places to Work in Connecticut
for 2010.
Henkel, the manufacturer of Loctite® adhesives, Dial® soaps, and Purex® laundry detergents, has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Connecticut for 2010. The awards program is sponsored by the Hartford Business Journal and the Best Companies Group.
The award is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Connecticut, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce, and businesses. The Best Places to Work in Connecticut 2010 list is made up of 25 companies, and Henkel ranked fourth among large companies.
Henkel employs 400 people at its Rocky Hill location, which is the headquarters of the company’s North American adhesives business as well as its North American corporate headquarters. Operations in Rocky Hill include research and development, marketing, sales, and customer service for Henkel’s line of industrial adhesives. Corporate functions at the site include finance, legal, human resources and information technology.
Henkel and the other Best Places to Work winners were honored at an awards reception on March 25. Julian Colquitt, president of Henkel Adhesive Technologies North America, accepted the award on behalf of the company. “We’re especially pleased that Henkel was recognized the first year that we applied for this award. Since most of our score was based on an employee survey, we’re gratified that so many of our employees think this is a great place to work,” he said.
Companies from across the state entered a two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Connecticut. The first part consisted of evaluating each company’s workplace policies, practices and demographics, and was worth 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience, and was worth 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall survey process and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.
