From March 28-31, the European Coatings Show will bring together exhibitors and visitors from all over the world at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center in Nuremberg, Germany. In 2009, the event drew more than 800 exhibitors and almost 20,000 attendees. A broad spectrum of product categories will be included, such as coating, printing, and adhesives raw materials; construction chemicals; laboratory and production equipment; environmental protection equipment; safety tools; and training, consulting, and education services.

The event will provide many networking opportunities for professionals in a range of industries. From the exhibition to the congress and everything in between, companies will have the chance to interact with many potential customers and partners.

The Congress

The European Coatings Congress, which has been a popular program in the past, will open on March 28 and take place concurrently with the exhibition on March 29 and 30. Overall, the congress will comprise expert sessions detailing technical topics such as coatings, printing links, adhesives and sealants, construction chemicals, and production technology.

The congress schedule will begin with several initial pre-congress tutorials to cover the fundamentals that will be addressed in later sessions. After the welcome address at noon on March 28, two keynote presentations about sustainability and the future of the coatings industry will be given. One keynote presentation will be delivered by the winner of the European Sustainable Chemistry Award, Professor Matthias Beller.

Each day’s sessions will be divided into themed segments before and after lunch. Topics will include raw materials, testing methods and equipment, mechanisms and physical properties, legislation and regulation, and formulation in every branch of the coatings industry.

At the end of the first day, a special poster session will be held so that other new and relevant research findings can be presented and discussed. Contributors will be on hand to answer any questions.

Industry Connections

The European Coatings Show provides a number of ways for industry professionals to get connected and share news about their products or services. Beyond partnering with more than 20 trade publications (includingASI), the European Coatings Show publishes “The EC Show Preview Journal” and the “EC Show Daily;” these newsletters report the latest industry and show news.

In addition, the “Farbe Und Lack EC Journal” includes advance reports on the exhibition and congress. This publication is responsible for selecting the most outstanding presentation over the course of the event. One winner will receive the prestigious European Coatings Award, which includes a prize of €2,000 (~ $2,700) and an elegant sculpture.

To keep up with the industry’s ever-changing technology, the European Coatings Show has created an online Market Navigator site. Exhibitors and visitors can explore an extensive database of suppliers and other companies in the industry community. A streamlined search capability makes it easy to find any of the show exhibitors or information about product offerings. The EC Market Navigator is also available as an iPhone or iPad app that supports up-to-the-minute updates from exhibitors, and has a journal function that allows users to record their personal experiences at the European Coatings Show.
