China is the biggest country in terms of titanium dioxide production and consumption, according to Research and Markets’ new “Survey of Titanium Dioxide in China, Sixth Edition,” part of the titanium dioxide series reports published by CCM International. During the first half of 2011, China’s output of titanium dioxide reached 857,600 tons. And from 2006 to 2010, the output increased from 810,800 tons to 1,465,751 tons, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.57%. As Chinese output has been increasing rapidly in the past five years, China has become one of the most important exporters in the world, with export volumes of 327,305 tons in 2010 and 342,475 tons in the first nine months of 2011.

Nevertheless, along with tremendous growth in the past few years, the limitations are becoming more obvious and involve technology, product quality, and environmental protection. The technology of titanium dioxide processing in China is still poor and the core technology is monopolized by overseas enterprises.
