asi0412-PSTC-img-inbody.jpgTo help industry professionals stay abreast of new technology and innovations in the ever-changing world of pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs), the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council (PSTC) will be holding its Tape Summit 2012 April 30-May 4 in Boston, MA. The event, which will take place at the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center, will provide multiple learning opportunities for suppliers, manufacturers, and anyone involved in the tape industry.

Educational Options
Tape Summit 2012 attendees will be able to select the learning options that best fit their needs. During the three-day Tech 35 Technical Seminar, industry leaders will present technical papers about new tape applications, innovations, sustainability and global issues. The list of speakers is available on the PSTC website, and registrants may pick and choose from the 25 available sessions. Sessions include “Adhesive Films–Tapes Beyond PSAs” by Hans Ander, head of global product development at Lohmann GmbH & Co; “New Waterborne PSAs Based on Soft and Hydrophobic Vinyl Esters” by Francois Simal, Ph.D., R&D manager at Momentive Specialty Chemicals Research S.A., Belgium; “Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives in Roofing” by Paul Benensky, senior research engineer at CertainTeed Roofing; and “Flexible Electronics: An Emerging Market for Advanced PSAs” by Graeme A. Roan, Ph.D., business development manager at Henkel.

Individuals who are looking for fundamental and advanced information about tape technology can find what they need in PSTC’s Tape Classes. The Fundamentals of PSA Tape class will be geared toward professionals who need an introduction into the terminology and basics of PSA tapes. For those who would like a more detailed technical lecture, the Adhesives and Advanced Technology of PSA Class will offer information about polymers and their properties, adhesive chemistry, surface science, theories of adhesion, and more. All classes will be taught by volunteer industry experts.

Additional Highlights
On May 2, a luncheon will be held in conjunction with the PSTC Exhibitor Showcase and Poster Session. The luncheon will be set up in the same room as the exhibitor showcase from noon to 1:30 p.m. and will be followed by the poster reception at 3:30 p.m. Exhibitors and attendees will consist of tape manufacturers, developers, and suppliers.

The annual PSTC spring membership meeting will also be held during the Tape Summit. During the meeting, manufacturer members and supplier affiliates will have an opportunity to network and receive updates on the goals of the organization.
