Product Spotlight: New Packaging Solution

May 1, 2012

Adhesives and sealants are well-suited for packaging in a new resealable package.

Poly-clip System has introduced a new packaging option for viscous products. A tubular package with two clips, the clip-pak® features attached threaded end pieces and optional nozzles or closure systems. In addition, the cap bonding system (CBS) opens up new market opportunities with the smallest resealable package that can be dispensed.

Multiple Benefits

clip-paks are tubular packages with a clip at each end, and the CBS enables these resealable packaging units to be dispensed manually. As a result, viscous products can be packed cost effectively and the packaging gains an additional function. The CBS is suited for the smallest packages, starting at 30 ml and with diameters of 18-50 mm.

Combined with the transfer sealing/clipping machine (TSCA) and hydraulic dosing pump (HDP), the CBS forms a fully automatic production line. With its modular design, the CBS bonds a threaded end cap onto the clip-pak and attaches a single component at each subsequent work station. The attachments can be such as end caps, Euro hanger/pegboard caps or extrusion nozzles. Up to eight work stations can be operated using an electrically driven rotary disc. Oscillating bowl feeders guarantee that each component is positioned vertically and then fixed in the collet, which offers continuous production. A central, movable display ensures reliable process control, and an Ethernet interface provides for data logging and remote maintenance and diagnoses.

Viscous products, especially adhesives and sealants, are well-suited for packaging in the resealable clip-pak. The large DIY market will benefit from this cost-effective option, as packages can be dispensed manually with no additional device required. Less waste is created when a product is packaged in a clip-pak, compared to a tube. The CBS is also easy to convert. By exchanging the collet, the machine can quickly be adapted to various product diameters and lengths. Corrosion-free materials and integrated safety covers guarantee safety and hygiene.
