Corbion and Perstorp have partnered to develop a new lactide caprolactone copolymer that reportedly delivers major benefits in hot-melt adhesive applications. The product, part of Perstorp’s Capa™ Lactide, is expected to be the first in a series of innovations for the adhesive industry.

The new product has a renewable content exceeding 80% and is fully compostable, thus providing adhesives manufacturers with a new technology to improve food safety aspects of packaging, and at the same time meet the growing demand for more sustainable products. In addition, the material reportedly delivers no compromise on performance and can allow formulators to remain competitive.

The new product is expected to be commercially available in the final quarter of this year and will be brought to market by Corbion.
