According to event organizers, 650 participants from 34 countries attended the 2019 FEICA Conference and Expo September 11-13 to discuss the European adhesive and sealant industry’s sustainable supply chain management, market drivers and trends, innovative solutions, and technological advancements. The event brought together manufacturers, formulators, suppliers, distributors, service providers, and members of the academic community to Dubrovnik in Croatia over the course of three days. One of the main threads through FEICA 2019 was reportedly how innovations in adhesives and sealants can help solve some of the biggest issues facing the world by improving product efficiency and circularity, thus creating a more sustainable society.

This year’s Conference Business Forum, titled “Driving growth in volatile times through sustainable supply chain management,” illustrated how the industry’s pace of change continues to accelerate and how sustainability and profitability can go hand-in-hand. By working closely with partners up and down the supply chain, from raw materials suppliers to end users, businesses can become even more agile in dealing with a rapidly changing world and remain, or become, leaders in their field.

The conference’s presentations gave delegates a chance to attend informative sessions relevant to their own particular spheres of interest. Topics ranged from “looking for perfect adhesion” to “sustainable packaging and application system for the future of adhesives in a circular economy.” The FEICA Seminar addressed “A Business Perspective on Regulatory Challenges.” At the exhibition, 50 exhibitors showcased their latest developments.

FEICA President Boris Tasche, Ph.D., of IVK-Industrieverband Klebstoffe e.V. brought his two-year term to a conclusion at FEICA 2019. Roland Albers, senior vice president Europe at Bostik, is incoming president. FEICA’s board also elected Guido Cami, president of AVISA, its new vice president.

According to Tasche, “The FEICA Conference and Expo has always sought to address the most important industry issues, and 2019 was no exception. It has again been a great conference.”

“Adhesives and sealants are everywhere and therefore contribute enormously to the economy,” said Albers. “A strong association ensures that our industry continues to thrive and create value through all the global changes and different economic climates.”
