This week in adhesives news, the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET) and state officials in Bangalore, India, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to build a research center for product development in the polymer sector.

The center is reportedly proposed to develop and conduct research in the areas of bio-polymers, bio-nano composites for packaging, bio-sensors for healthcare applications, and natural fiber reinforced composites for automobile applications, among other projects. The center, to be named the Advanced Polymer Design and Development Research Laboratory, will operate under the CIPET and the Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.
