As the gift-giving season approaches, the Empire State Consumer Project (ESCP) is warning parents of the many products that still contain toxins and are considered harmful to children. Coal-tar driveway sealants made the list, along with a few of other products and toys such as the popular fidget spinners, silk-screened children’s clothing, and other children’s toys and furniture.  The group cautions that driveway sealants containing coal tar should be avoided because of its carcinogenic properties and release of particles. Some towns around the country have already began the banning of these products and looking for alternatives that are coal tar-free.
