Beauty company L’Oréal recently unveiled its battery-free wearable electronic UV sensor: UV Sense. This new tiny device was designed to measure an individual’s ultraviolet exposure by adhering a one-inch-thick transparent patch on the user’s thumbnail. The wearable sensor contains photosensitive dyes that change colors when it has been exposed to UV rays, providing “optimal” sunlight measures. The device can be reapplied for several weeks using provided adhesives. The global launch of this new product is expected in 2019.
