DELO Expands Medical Electronics Portfolio

Medical wearables like glucose monitoring sensors benefit from DELO's expanded portfolio of bio-compatible adhesives designed for reliable, skin-safe bonding applications.

April 17, 2026

DELO Industrial Adhesives has expanded its medical electronics portfolio with five new IBOA- and TPO-free adhesives. The company has successfully adapted flagship products from its semiconductor and consumer electronics divisions for medical device applications, delivering enhanced bio-compatibility features.

Leading the new portfolio is DELO PHOTOBOND MG4202, designed for structural bonds such as housing bonding in wearables. This solvent-free, IBOA-free adhesive offers fast curing capabilities — just one second at 1000 mW/cm² LED intensity at 400 nm with 100 μm layer thickness. The colorless adhesive operates across a temperature range of -40 °C to +125 °C.

DELO PHOTOBOND MG4191 serves as a versatile, multi-purpose solution that is completely free of skin-sensitizing substances (H317-free) while maintaining high strength and flexibility. This lower-viscosity modification offers good water resistance and flow-resistant properties, making it ideal for various medical device applications.

The complete portfolio includes three additional specialized variants:

  • DELO PHOTOBOND MG4094 provides fluorescent properties for visual process control
  • DELO PHOTOBOND MG4186 delivers peel resistance with high reliability
  • DELO PHOTOBOND MG4164 combines blue fluorescence with sealing capabilities for FIPG and CIPG applications

Compliance and Biocompatibility

All products meet stringent medical industry requirements, including bio-compatibility testing according to DIN EN ISO 10993-5 for cytotoxicity. They comply with RoHS Directive 2015/863/EU and are available in 30cc cartridges.

“This portfolio expansion represents the perfect convergence of our proven semiconductor and consumer electronics expertise with the growing demands of medical device manufacturers,” said Günther Witek, product manager for medical electronics at DELO. “By adapting our most successful adhesive technologies for bio-compatible applications, we're enabling our medical customers to benefit from decades of miniaturization and manufacturing excellence.”

DELO reports that the new adhesives complement its existing medical portfolio, including the low-viscosity, hydrophobic DELO PHOTOBOND MG4047 for potting applications in glucose monitoring sensors and other wearables, protecting underlying electronics from moisture and sweat. Together, these solutions address the increasing convergence of medical and consumer electronics industries, particularly in wearable medical devices, biosensors, and advanced monitoring systems where both performance and patient safety are critical.
