The 54th Annual International Waterborne, High-Solids, and Powder Coatings Symposium has issued a call for papers for its 2027 event. The symposium will be held at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, with technical presentations scheduled for February 10-12, 2027.
The symposium is seeking original research from academic, government and industry professionals covering new and emerging technologies related to coatings science and engineering. Presentations must be original, non-commercial and focused on recent advancements in coatings science or related disciplines. Particular emphasis will be placed on research that demonstrates significant enhancements in coatings performance, functionality, and application beyond conventional paradigms.
Suggested topics include novel waterborne materials, high-solids, new technologies, architectural and protective coatings, emulsions, renewable and bio-based coatings, corrosion and adhesion, functional coatings, UV technologies, pigments and additives, weathering and durability, wood coatings, powder coatings, artificial intelligence in coatings, smart and functional coatings, self-healing materials, formulation, and sustainability.
The Waterborne Symposium Technical Committee will evaluate abstracts based on technical content and contribution to the field. Commercial presentations and submissions containing multiple trade-name references will not be accepted. All presentations must be original (first-time presented), non-commercial, and should represent recent advancements in coatings science or related disciplines. Presentations should be 20 to 30 minutes long.
Abstracts are due October 1, 2026, with acceptance letters scheduled to be sent by November 1. Accepted speakers must submit a written paper for publication in the symposium's annual proceedings by December 1. Final PowerPoint presentations are due February 1, 2027.
