AMBLER, Pa. — Henkel Corp.’s Coatings and Inks Division is now Cognis Coatings and Inks Division. The change is a result of the recently announced formation of Cognis Corp., which combines Henkel’s worldwide specialty chemical businesses. Cognis has global sales of approximately $2.7 billion and 10,000 employees worldwide.

Cognis Coatings and Inks Division emphasizes technically advanced, environmentally compatible products that include defoamers, mildewcides, rheology modifiers, dispersants, surfactants, corrosion inhibitors, energy-curable oligomers, monomers and resins. Cognis specialty resins and additives are used in UV/EB energy curing, adhesives, architectural paints, graphic arts and civil engineering applications.

For customers, the creation of Cognis Corp. presents a number of opportunities, according to Bob LieBerman, Cognis business director for coating resins, additives and graphic arts. “Our business area has been recognized as one with excellent growth potential,” said LieBerman. “As Cognis, we’ll now have a larger pool of resources to expand our business and better serve our customers.”

LieBerman notes that the Coatings and Inks Division will be adding staff in sales, marketing and technical areas, and will streamline administrative processes — all of which will enable the company to be more responsive to customer needs and market demands.
