Cognis has announced that it is consolidating the manufacture of its Coatings and Inks Division products.

CINCINNATI — As part of an ongoing program to increase efficiency of its North American manufacturing network, Cognis Corp., formerly Henkel Chemicals Group, has announced that it is consolidating the manufacture of its Coatings and Inks Division products from Lock Haven, Pa., to its Charlotte, N.C., facility.

Consolidation will take place over the next several months. The company expects it to be completed by the end of the year when the Lock Haven facility will cease operations. Customer shipments will continue uninterrupted during the transition.

“The consolidation will support our development of a state-of-the-art plant in Charlotte, which will result in market improvements in quality, service and support of our global customers,” said Bill Zane, vice president of Coatings and Inks and Plastics Technology.

The Coatings and Inks Division produces specialty resins and additives, as well as provides customer support services for the adhesives, industrial coatings, architectural paint and graphic arts industries. It specializes in waterborne, energy-cured and high-solid systems that provide increased performance, safety and environmental soundness. The products currently made at the Lock Haven plant, including acrylated monomers and oligomers (epoxy and urethane), will all be produced in Charlotte.
