The Specialty Chemicals business of Honeywell, Morris Township, N.J., offers a line of new fluorinated alkyl vinyl ether products for use in a variety of adhesive, ink, coatings, personal care, medical device, optical and automotive applications. FAVE 4101 and FAVE 4102 react via both cationic and free-radical mechanisms using a radiation-curable process, or can be used in acid-catalyzed, solvent-based systems. As additives, FAVE vinyl ether monomers reduce formulation viscosity and surface tension to improve wetting, flow and leveling. Once reacted, the molecules provide enhanced surface properties such as low surface energy, anti-blocking, and improved chemical and abrasion resistance.
