Minerals Technologies Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary, Barretts Minerals Inc. (BMI), Bethlehem, Pa., has acquired the business and assets of Polar Minerals Inc. for $22.5 million.
NEW YORK -- Minerals Technologies Inc.'s wholly owned subsidiary, Barretts Minerals Inc. (BMI), Bethlehem, Pa., has acquired the business and assets of Polar Minerals Inc., a privately owned producer of industrial minerals, for $22.5 million. Polar Minerals' operations will be incorporated into the Minerals Technologies' Specialty Minerals segment.

Polar Minerals is a supplier of mineral products used in the adhesives, sealants, coatings, rubber and cosmetics markets, and operates processing plants in Wellsville, Ohio, and Mount Vernon, Ind. The company's product line includes talc, ground calcium carbonate, barytes and mica.
