News briefs on Charles Ross, Loparex, Expancel, Eastman and more ...

Adhesives Research, Inc., Glen Rock, Pa., has signed an agreement with Techno Alpha Co., Ltd., Tokyo, to serve as sales agent/distributor in Japan for the company’s electronics and industrial technologies.

Charles Ross and Son Co., Hauppauge, N.Y., has expanded its Test and Development Center located at the company’s headquarters. The center covers over 7,000 sq ft and is available for use by existing and prospective clients.

Expancel Inc., Duluth, Ga., has broadened its longstanding relationship with the Chem-Materials Company, Inc., Cleveland. Chem-Materials will now handle all of Expancel’s plastic microsphere products in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and West Virginia.

Eastman Chemical Co., Kingsport, Tenn., has named ChemPoint.com the North America e-distributor for its Eastobrite® optical brighteners. The partnership with ChemPoint will complement existing distribution channels and Eastman’s own e-commerce capabilities.

Loparex Inc., Willowbrook, Ill., has launched its new Internet-based search tool called the Product Selector. This new tool assists customers in choosing an appropriate release liner for their particular end-use application or processing condition.

The Morehouse-Cowles Division of MFIC Corp., Fullerton, Calif., has appointed Process Innovations as sales representative for Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, parts of Connecticut and Eastern New York.

Neville Chemical Co., Pittsburgh, announced a name change of its Nevcin Polymers B.V. European subsidiary to Neville Chemical Europe B.V. The change reflects Neville Chemical’s acquisition of complete ownership of the European business.

Noveon, Inc., Cleveland, has chosen Hanse Chemie AG as the exclusive distributor for the company’s Hycar® reactive liquid polymer products in Northern Europe and Italy.

Plasticolors Inc., Ashtabula, Ohio, has been recommended for registration to the international Quality Management System Technical Specification ISO/TS 16949:2002. The announcement follows an extensive audit of Plasticolors’ Quality Management System.

Southern Clay Products’ production site in Gonzales, Texas, received the ISO 9001:2000 certificate 13 months in advance of the December 2003 deadline, a certification required of all ISO-registered companies.

TA Instruments, New Castle, Del., has completed the asset purchase of the Rheology Division of Rheometric Scientific. Rheometric Scientific said the sale reflects plans to focus on its life-sciences business. In addition Rheometric announced a change in its name to Proterion Corp.

The UCB Group, Brussels, Belgium, has completed the acquisition of Solutia’s Resins, Additives and Adhesives businesses. UCB will integrate all three activities into one new business, Surface Specialties.
