Brookfield Engineering Laboratories, Middleboro, Mass., has acquired the Texture Products Division of CNS Farnell, formerly known as the Stevens line of Texture Analysers. According to David Brookfield, president, “The addition of this axial testing capability complements and enhances our existing rotational product line and allows us much more flexibility in solving the rheological needs of our customers.”

The Dow Chemical Co., Midland, Mich., has launched a Web site, http://www.dowbiocides.com, to provide timely information about its biocides product family. Biocide customers can find product literature, application information and on-line sample-ordering information.

Engelhard Corp., Iselin, N.J., is enacting an energy surcharge on specialty kaolin-based pigments for industrial markets, including adhesives, coatings, inks, plastics and rubber. The surcharge will be $3.00 per short ton for hydrous slurry products, $6.00 for hydrous dry products and $18.00 for calcined and calcined silane-treated grades.

ExxonMobil Chemical, Houston, has completed a significant upgrading project of its isopropyl alcohol facility in Baton Rouge, La. Improvements made to the facility will increase plant efficiency by greatly extending turnaround cycles. The project increases the nameplate capacity of the plant to 340 kt/year.

Henkel Loctite Corp., Industry, Calif., was named a recipient of Intel Corp.’s Preferred Quality Supplier award for outstanding performance in providing products and services deemed essential to Intel’s success. The company was awarded for its efforts in supplying Intel with die-attach adhesives and underfill materials.

Sartomer Co., Exton, Pa., has joined the Elemica e-business network. Members of the Elemica network can now place seamless, secure, electronic orders with Sartomer. Sartomer will also continue to sell its products through traditional channels.

Minerals Technologies, New York, has implemented surcharges for specialty precipitated calcium carbonate, ground calcium carbonate, talc and lime. The surcharge is due to the increase in energy costs associated with minerals processing.
