End-Use Application
Free Films Bond Low-Energy Surfaces

June 2, 2003
The MACfilm IF-2090 Series of pressure sensitive films provides strong adhesion to difficult surfaces.
Bonding to low-energy surfaces requires an aggressive adhesive that maintains a strong bond. The latest addition to the MACfilm® product line of free films — the IF-2090 Series — provides that high strength when bonding to a variety of difficult surfaces, including polypropylene, polyethylene and powder-coated materials.

“Manufacturers need a strong free film for mounting products to surfaces that are traditionally difficult to bond,” says Bob Frazier, marketing manager at MACtac®, Stow, Ohio. “Where low surface energy is a problem, these products are the solution. Appliance, automotive and nameplate manufacturers will all benefit from these versatile films.”

The IF-2090 Series provides aggressive tack and peel for quick bonding and long-term adhesion in two thicknesses for manufacturing flexibility. MACtac’s IF-2092, a 2-mil film, enables nameplates, faceplates and other decorative attachments to maintain an engineered, low-profile appearance. The 5-mil IF-2095 film features a heavier adhesive coat weight to allow for more complete surface contact to textured, irregular or mismatched surfaces.

Both IF-2090 Series products are protected by moisture-stable, 74# polycoated white kraft release liners, allowing the films to maintain excellent lay-flat properties.

IF-2092 film enables nameplates, faceplates and other decorative attachments to maintain an engineered, low-profile appearance.
