Daikin Industries, Ltd. has announced the complete resumption of operation at its plant in Kashima, Ibaraki, Japan, effective Feb. 10, 2005. An explosion at its Fluororesin Production Facility on Jan. 13, 2004 forced the suspension of operations at eight of the plant's production areas under the High Pressure Gas Safety Law and three production areas under the Fire Service Law. The Kashima Plant is responsible for production of tetrafluoroethylene, a fluorocarbon polymer building block, and polymers made from this building block. The Ibaraki Prefectural Government and local fire service authority inspected each production area to ensure safety as Daikin worked to restore the entire plant.
