I&J FISNAR INC.: Dispensing Robots

I&J Fisnar Inc. has announced the introduction of a new program of bench top dispensing robots, which are manufactured in accordance with RoHS requirements. The I&J4000-LF maintains the compact style and functionality expected of I&J Fisnar robot designs, and continues to build upon the range of precision multiple axis products that are ideal for many automatic bench dispensing applications. Programming is carried out by a teach-pendant (included) using the industry’s leading dispensing software that walks the user through step-by-step instructions to create a sophisticated dispensing program in minutes.

Resolution is 20 microns and there is interpolation in all axes. The I&J4000-LF series has been engineered to accept a tool weight of up to 5 kg and a worktable load of 10 kg, making a system tough enough for a range of automated dispensing applications.

These machines are ideal for form-in-place gaskets, adhesives, potting, coating and filling. Features also include a quick fluid-purge button located on the front panel. Resident program capacity is 100 programs with a total point memory of 400,000 points and 4,000 points of positioning data per program.

TRELLEBORG SEALING SOLUTIONS: Seal

This company has announced the newly developed Turcon Variseal SA seal. Utilizing a PTFE-based sealing solution suitable for the solid glands preferred by aerospace engineers, this seal offers easy installation combined with high temperature operation, chemical resistance and low friction, making it suitable for high-frequency applications.

To house seals, aerospace engineers prefer the use of a solid gland, a simple groove cut into component hardware, to simplify installation. Slipper seals, which are compact in design, can fit into these without a problem. However, the spring-energized Turcon® Variseal® is often a preferred sealing option because it has a number of advantages in aircraft applications. This product is capable of operating in extremes of temperature and is resistant to aggressive aerospace fluids such as synthetic hydrocarbon, petroleum base, phosphate ester, and all types of aviation jet fuels. In addition, having a very low coefficient of friction optimizes sealing load, making it ideal for the high frequency cycling of primary flight controls.

“The development of the Turcon Variseal SA represents significant product advancement, bringing real benefits to our customers,” says Antonio Garcia, Aerospace Segment manager, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions America. “It expands the use of Turcon Variseal in aerospace applications and, as it can directly replace slipper seals or O-rings in standard grooves, it can provide improved performance in existing housings.”
