The Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association (SOCMA) has awarded LANXESS Corp.’s Baytown, TX, facility its 2008 Silver Award for achievements in implementing a recognized environmental, health, safety and security (EHS&S) program. The award is given as part of SOCMA’s annual Performance Improvement Awards, sponsored by ChemStewards®, SOCMA’s EHS&S initiative.

The Basic Chemicals business unit’s production site in Baytown is being recognized for its efforts to demonstrate excellence in the areas of EHS&S planning and operations, employee training and engagement, and resource management and waste minimization.

“LANXESS’s environmental, health, safety and security efforts show they are dedicated to performance excellence, and to improving the quality of life in their community,” said SOCMA President Joe Acker. “We commend the LANXESS Baytown facility on their Silver Award honors, and encourage them to continue their efforts toward implementing the ChemStewards Core Principles.”
