Momentive Performance Materials has announced the addition of Silquest Y-15744 silane, Silquest Y-11699 silane and Silquest VX-225 silane to its family of adhesive and sealant additives. Following Momentive’s 70-year tradition of bringing innovative technology solutions to market, these new products can help significantly enhance performance and properties of adhesive and sealant systems.

Silquest Y-15744 silane is an excellent candidate to consider for use in applications that require adhesion between organic and inorganic substrates and organic polymers. Its proprietary structure and good wetting properties can help foster strong adhesion to many plastics such as ABS, PMMA, POM, and polystyrene, even in wet or damp environments. 

In coatings, adhesives and sealants, Silquest Y-11699 silane can help promote adhesion between organic polymers and glass, metal, wood or cast plastic substrates, and may be considered for high-temperature and high-humidity applications that require tensile and flexural strength. It can be added directly to polymers during system formulation, or it can used independently as a primer. Silquest Y-11699 silane is an ethoxysilane and will typically lower methanol emissions when compared to many silane adhesion promoters.

Silquest VX-225 silane may be considered for use in a range of adhesives and sealants applications. In addition to acting as an adhesion promoter, Silquest VX-225 silane can help modify the physical properties of hybrid and RTV sealants, typically increasing their elasticity, lowering modulus, and decreasing the residual surface tack and yellowing of the final cured product.
