IChemE Appoints New President
Desmond King, president of Chevron Technology Ventures, has been named
the 69th president of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (ICHemE),
succeedling Ian Shott.
King has a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Cambridge University, U.K., and a bachelor’s degree from Imperial College. He was a chemical engineering college professor for two years before joining Chevron in 1981. At Chevron, he has held key roles in technology marketing and corporate strategic planning.
“Des brings a wealth of experience to IChemE,” said David Brown, IChemE CEO. “He’s worked in and with academia, and has held a succession of senior industry positions all over the world–proof of the great career that a chemical engineering background can offer.
