As consumers become increasingly concerned about food safety, they are engaging more frequently with retailers and food companies about food packaging. To help brand owners, packaging designers and converters prepare for these conversations, Joseph Spinnato, Ph.D., a regulatory compliance manager with Ashland Specialty Ingredients, a commercial unit of Ashland Inc., will discuss Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and risk assessment in food packaging design and construction. Spinnato’s presentation, "The Regulatory and Risk Landscape for Flexible Food Packaging," is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sept. 28 at Pack Expo in Las Vegas.

“Food adulteration can jeopardize consumers’ health and poses enormous financial risk to both food producers and packaging converters,” said Spinnato. “In this presentation, we will offer innovative ideas, backed by supporting data, to help producers and converters work toward minimizing their risk with techniques for conducting proper migration studies.”

Spinnato will be available at Ashland’s booth  to answer questions following his presentation.
