Self-adhering flashing tapes work in concert with products like roof underlayment and water-resistive barriers (commonly called housewrap) to help ensure that a structure’s building envelope can maintain the desired interior environment while providing protection from elements outside. To that end, flashing tapes effectively serve as gaskets that are used around the fenestration, air vents, and pipe penetrations that are common culprits for moisture ingress and air movement.

Construction adhesives are a growing business, and for good reason. They can be used in almost any construction project, big or small, and they strengthen and improve the longevity of common projects like installing subflooring, hanging drywall, finishing trim and moldings, and hanging cabinets, as well as outdoor landscaping and finishing projects.

I recently took the Bonding with ASI podcast on the road, sitting down with Joe Tocci, president of the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council (PSTC) at Tape Week in Orlando, Fla. Postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the inaugural Tape Week was held May 3-5, 2022.

The global epoxy adhesives market is expected to reach $11.6 billion by 2026. These adhesives offer high shear strength while bonding efficiently to substrates like wood, glass, and metal. They also provide minimal shrinkage, superior thermal and chemical resistance, and cohesive strength.

Toyochem Co., Ltd., the polymers and coatings arm of Japan’s Toyo Ink Group, has launched a new low-odor, low-VOC acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive.

The Pressure Sensitive Tape Council (PSTC) will hold its inaugural Tape Week May 2-5 at the Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The event will offer educational sessions, an exhibition, and many networking opportunities.
