For many manufacturers, end-of-line packaging where goods are placed and sealed into secondary packaging such as corrugated cartons serves as one of the last lines of defense to ensure finished goods arrive to their final destination in excellent, saleable form.

Construction and automotive repair often require controlled blends of adhesives and sealants. Reliable and efficient applications can depend on precise and repeatable placement of epoxies and other two-component (2K) adhesives and sealants for such tasks as concrete anchoring, crack injection, foam insulation, seam sealers, bumper repair, windshield installation, and sound deadening.

Griffon Hoverwork, a designer and manufacturer of technically advanced hovercrafts, has collaborated with SCIGRIP to develop and produce its latest vessel. The newly completed 12000TD is a 22-m passenger craft that reportedly represents a significant shift in manufacturing techniques for the UK hovercraft company.

With the explosion of internet shopping over the past few years, demand for delivery vehicles has skyrocketed. From October 17-19, experts from across the adhesives and sealants industry will come together at the Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) Fall Convention and Expo in Indianapolis. The event offers speakers, short courses, a lively exhibition floor, and multiple chances to network with industry experts, clients, end users, and researchers.

U.S. coatings consumption was 8.4 billion lbs solids (dry weight) worth $26.6 billion in 2015, and is growing at a mature 1% annual rate, according to “The U.S. Paint & Coatings Industry, 2015-2020,” a recent study from Kusumgar, Nerlfi & Growney. The architectural segment leads in volume with 47% of the dry weight and is equal to the OEM segment in value, with each representing 38% of the value. The OEM segment was 28% of the dry poundage. Special-purpose coatings were just over one-quarter of the volume and 24% of the value. The coatings industry is still recovering from the effects of the 2009 recession, with volume off more than 10% from the 2006 total.

The Assembly Show will return October 25-27 to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., for its fourth consecutive annual show focused on anything and everything assembly.
