Bodo Möller Chemie and Huntsman’s Advanced Materials division have steadily expanded their cooperative partnership over the last 30 years. Most recently the companies have worked together to commercialize and promote Huntsman’s newest low odor adhesives innovation, ARALDITE® 2080 and ARALDITE® 2081, which are sold at its 40 locations worldwide. Huntsman’s low-odor, non-flammable acrylic adhesives, in particular, demonstrate their properties to excellent effect in e-mobility among other applications.

The Bodo Möller Chemie Group and Huntsman’s Advanced Materials division have been working together since back in 1992. Bodo Möller Chemie’s acquisition of the distribution contract for Ciba Performance Polymers products (now part of Huntsman’s Advanced Materials division) marked the start of the global partnership between the two companies. Frank Haug, current chairman of the board of the Bodo Möller Chemie Group, became a sales and application engineer for ARALDITE structural adhesives a short time later. In his position as managing director at Bodo Möller Chemie, Haug started to expand business activities with Huntsman starting in 2000, which means that their products are sold today in almost all branches worldwide.

The Bodo Möller Chemie Group partners with many global chemicals groups, including Huntsman. The 30-year cooperation with Huntsman focuses on the sale of epoxy resins, polyurethane adhesives, and acrylic adhesives, those marketed under the ARALDITE brand. “Huntsman’s Advanced Materials portfolio of adhesives, composite materials and encapsulants meet strict technical specifications and comply with customer-specific requirements for e-mobility and numerous industrial and consumer applications,” said Harald Wiedemann, vice president, EMEA & India, at Huntsman Advanced Materials.

The Future of E-Mobility

E-mobility applications require advanced, high-performance adhesives, sealants, and insulation resins. They improve performance in motors, switches, batteries, connectors, electrical control units, cable harnesses, power inverters, transformers, sensors (ADAS), and EV charging structures. The acrylic adhesives ARALDITE 2080 and ARALDITE 2081 combine high strength, a long service life, and effective expansion properties for metals, composites, and plastics while offering a low-odor, non-flammable profile.

“With their exceptional properties, acrylic adhesives are ideal to help establish hydrogen as a driving force behind modern, future-oriented mobility. Huntsman is crucial as a partner to achieve this,” said Haug.

"A long-standing cooperation with partners such as Huntsman, enables us to offer customers worldwide comprehensive solutions from outstanding products and the application know-how of our experts," said Korinna Möller, managing director at Bodo Möller Chemie.
