A must-see coatings industry event, the 2024 American Coatings Show and Conference will take place from April 30 to May 2, 2024, at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Coatings professionals from across North America and beyond will gather to see the latest technological advances within the industry and hear about new research and trends.

Conference Program

The 2024 American Coatings Conference will follow the theme, “Innovations in Coatings Technology: Shaping Our Future.” The conference will offer a curated, varied program across multiple topic tracks, which will include some 90 technical sessions. The event brings together members of the coatings industry’s technical and scientific community with members of the academic world and their students for three days of learning and sharing the latest scientific research and advancements in coatings technology.

The keynote address of the conference will be given by Dr. Robert Roop, senior vice president and chief technology officer at Axalta Coating Systems. Roop will discuss the shift in focus of coatings innovations, as R&D has historically been driven by the need for improved performance and meeting regulatory requirements. Going forward, the future of innovation is more focused on sustainability, which is driven by demands of society. Over the past 10 years, Roop has served in various leadership roles within Axalta. Prior to joining Axalta, he spent 20 years working in technology and operations at various DuPont chemical and polymer businesses.

Viewing the Exhibits

The show, which takes place concurrently with the conference, is offering many opportunities for attendees to interact with the latest innovations available to the industry. It will feature a user-friendly interactive floor plan that participants can use to search for specific companies and products and find their booth locations on the show floor. Product presentations will be available throughout the day, with companies demonstrating live, on stage, their newest products. Additionally, a Buyers Lounge will be a designated area for show participants to meet with clients. To keep attendees up to date on everything happening at the event, a show and conference daily newspaper will feature daily highlights, interviews with industry experts, and exhibitor booth locations. For participants who are interested in expanding their careers, an online career center will be available for attendees and exhibitors to connect through an online portal. The exhibition will open at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, and will run until 5:00 in the afternoon on both Tuesday and Wednesday. The show will close on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.

Pre-Conference Tutorials

On Tuesday, April 30, nine pre-conference tutorials will provide attendees with foundational information and updates on major issues within the coatings industry. Academic experts and industry professionals will give lectures on a variety of subjects. Among the topics covered in the tutorials are establishing sustainability goals, smart coatings, radiation-cured coatings, machine learning, biocide selection, polyurethanes, functional films, anti-corrosive coatings, and coatings formulation.
