2025 ASI Top 20: General Sealants, Inc.

As the adhesives and sealants industry continues to shape the backbone of global manufacturing, few companies embody high-quality and innovation like General Sealants, Inc. For more than six decades, this California-based manufacturer has set benchmarks for quality, customer service, and technical advancement. From aerospace and automotive OEMs to construction, HVAC, and renewable energy, General Sealants has consistently delivered products that meet the complex demands of industries worldwide.
Company Overview
Founded more than half a century ago, General Sealants Inc. (GS Inc.) is headquartered in Southern California and distributes its products worldwide. With a diverse lineup that includes high-quality butyl rubber sealant tapes, polysulfide sealants, silicone sealants, vacuum bag sealants, polyacrylic, and polyolefin solutions, the company has built its reputation as a trusted partner for clients requiring durable, high-performance sealing technologies.
Today, GS Inc. is led by President and COO Patrick Boyle, who continues to build on the company’s strong foundation while steering it toward future growth.
Milestone Anniversary and Expansion
Demonstrating longevity while operating for more than half-a-century underscores the company’s commitment to highest-quality and innovation. Coinciding with recent milestones, GS Inc. is nearing the completion of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and development laboratory that will nearly double its production and R&D footprints.
This expansion marks the culmination of nearly half a decade of planning and construction. In the years leading up to the project, company leadership explored potential locations across the United States — including sites outside California. However, by 2020–2021, the decision was made to remain in Southern California, with a site in La Habra, California, ultimately selected.
“While we considered a nationwide search for a new facility, we knew that our most valuable asset was right here — our dedicated and long-term workforce,” said Boyle. “By staying local, we not only retain the people who make our products the best in the industry, but we also maintain the logistical advantages that allow us to serve global customers effectively.”
The new facility features the latest in manufacturing technology, enabling the company to increase capacity, enhance efficiency, and improve lead times for its customers.
Innovation and R&D Commitment
General Sealants’ expansion is fueled by a commitment to research and development. R&D spending increased by more than 20% year-over-year and has continued to climb steadily through 2025. This investment reflects the company’s strategy of listening closely to its clients and developing products precisely tailored to their needs.
Recent product introductions underscore this focus on innovation:
- GS# CF3: A sealant compliant with FDA regulation CFR 21, designed for safe use in food packaging and related applications.
- GS# 517-1: A specialized automotive sealant engineered to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). It can be paired with aluminum, vinyl, EPDM, or foam backing, providing versatile performance options for OEMs and suppliers.
These developments demonstrate GS’s ability to adapt to shifting market demands while pushing the boundaries of performance and compliance.
Market Performance
Entering 2025, General Sealants Inc. continues to project growth, supported by expanded production capacity and rising demand across automotive, aerospace, infrastructure, metal building roofing, and renewable energy sectors.
Future Outlook
As General Sealants enters its seventh decade, the company is doubling down on its long-standing promise: to deliver “Stick to Quality®” sealant solutions to industries worldwide. With a larger footprint, expanded R&D pipeline, and a dedicated workforce at its side, GS Inc. is well-positioned to meet future challenges head-on.
By maintaining deep roots in Southern California while serving clients on a global scale, GS Inc. demonstrates that growth and tradition can go hand in hand. Its leadership believes that the future will be defined not only by continued excellence in product performance but also by an enduring commitment to the people and partnerships that made the company what it is today.
