API Presents New Reporting Guidelines and Software

September 1, 2001
ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Alliance for the Polyurethanes Industry (API), a business unit of the American Plastics Council (APC), has revised and updated its guidance document, MDI/Polymeric MDI Emissions Reporting Guidelines for the Polyurethane Industry.

This 140-page Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) reporting guidebook is designed for manufacturers and processors of MDI/PMDI seeking information that will allow them to make fast, easy and reliable emissions estimates for the purposes of TRI reporting. The guidebook has been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency as an appropriate means of estimating air releases of MDI.

API has also developed Emissions Estimator Software, a tool that provides a fast and convenient method of estimating MDI emissions from typical process applications and activities.

Both MDI/Polymeric MDI Emissions Reporting Guidelines for the Polyurethane Industry and the Emissions Estimator Software can be downloaded from the API Web site at www.polyurethane.org. The guidelines are also available as a printed guidebook for $20 per copy. To order copies, call APC at 800-243-5790. When ordering, specify document number AX-186.
