TAPPI’s International Flexible Packaging & Extrusion Division (IFPED) has announced Horst-Christian Langowski, Ph.D., professor emeritus, Technical University of Munich, is the keynote speaker for its 18th Biennial European PLACE Conference being held October 10-12, 2022, in Bratislava, Slovakia. Early bird registration rates are in effect through September 10, 2022. Langowski is widely respected for his research and vast knowledge in the areas of food packaging and processing. In his keynote address, “The Importance of Food-Grade Recyclates for the Circular Plastics Economy,” Langowski will share his insight and experience about the future of both consumables and packaging amidst increasing global awareness.

This year’s conference program focuses on recycling and sustainability, barriers, sealing performance, converting improvements, extrusion coating, paper and film-based solutions, and includes a session on advanced coatings. The European PLACE Conference is the only event of its kind in Europe that focuses on polymers, laminations, adhesives, coatings, and extrusion (PLACE). Speakers include not only experts from the industry, but many top academicians from leading universities.
