DuPont Adhesives & Fluids delivers a broad range of technology-based products and solutions to the automotive industry, also offering a customized materials portfolio for advanced mobility solutions with clear advantages for hybrid/electric and autonomous vehicle manufacturers. The organization encourages a collaborative approach to e-mobility solutions that makes it easy for customers to work together with DuPont experts to ensure mutual success. Supporting and coordinating throughout the value chain, DuPont develops material systems solutions for demanding applications and environments.
Sustainability is also key to DuPont Adhesives & Fluids success. It is committed to the goals of acting on climate, enabling a circular economy and making all its solutions safer by design. These goals include, but are not limited to, the utilization of renewable energy in manufacturing operations, reducing waste and water use, increasing the use of renewable, low GWP materials in its formulations, designing adhesives for recycling compatibility, converting formulations from solvent-based to water-based and eliminating SVHC from its products. The company is also supporting adjacent industries, like power and energy, to help build better battery energy storage systems (BESS) that enable the collection and storage of renewable energy – like solar and wind – to be distributed to the power grid on demand. DuPont is working with manufacturers of BESS to utilize adhesive and thermal management materials to build storage modules that are more durable, efficient and safe.
Recent notable achievements include:
- DuPont continues to invest globally in manufacturing and R&D to meet industry demand. Recent investments include a new manufacturing facility in East China to support the automotive industry in China and the Asia market as well as production expansion in Schkopau, Germany to meet increasing demand for innovative adhesive solutions for automotive applications throughout Europe.
- Continued expansion of our portfolio with BETAMATE™ 2090, a two-part epoxy structural adhesive for both vehicle body and battery applications. It demonstrates higher toughness and achieves handling strength in under an hour. Importantly, it doesn’t require any pretreatment and is a cold-cure adhesive, eliminating the need for oven curing, therefore enabling energy savings in the assembly process.
- Won 2023 R&D 100 and 2024 Altair Enlighten awards for BETAMATE broad bake adhesive technology that results in energy savings for customers through a lower curing temperature window.
- Won 2024 R&D 100 Award for BETAFORCE™ elastic structural adhesive for EV pouch cell bonding that doesn’t require primers or pretreatment and features 30% bio-based materials and room temperature curing in its formulation.
- Recognition of BETATECH™ thermal interface material (TIM) as a winner of the 2024 CLEPA Top Innovator Award in the Green Product category. Presented by CLEPA – the European Association of Automotive Suppliers - the Top Innovator award recognizes the most ground-breaking innovations in the automotive supply industry.
