medmix has launched the new MIXPAC™ greenLine 50 mL B‐System Set, its first cartridge made from 100% post‐consumer recycled polypropylene (PCR PP). 

In collaboration with ChileGlobal Ventures, the venture capital arm of Fundación Chile, Henkel Chile has launched the global Seal the Cycle initiative to find technological solutions for plastic waste. The goal of the initiative is innovation in separating high-density polyethylene (HDPE) from silicone waste to enable the recycling of cartridges that cannot currently be reprocessed.

ViscoTec recently introduced cartridge applicators featuring Festo pneumatic control modules for the exact and clean feeding of adhesives, pastes, and silicones of different viscosities. 

A new benchtop dispenser combines the simplicity and versatility of a dual-barrel cartridge with bench-mount support, pneumatic foot pedal, air logic, control panel, and all the equipment needed to convert dual-cartridges to a benchtop potting, encapsulating, bonding, and dispensing system.

The design of packaging and dispensing systems can go a long way in supporting adhesive manufacturers and end users in the pursuit of increased efficiencies. Particularly with the optimal filling and application of 2-component adhesives, it’s fundamental to obtain reliable bonds.

In 2015, we were challenged with developing a 14-head, 140/min, continuous-motion bottle filler to fill blow-molded bottles. It was during this project that we first began to work with Morrison Container Handling Solutions, and we began to rethink how we could transfer cartridge containers through our filling systems.

Within today’s diverse adhesive and sealants product segments, encompassing very different markets such as retail, architectural, industrial, and aerospace applications, all buyers and end users depend on clearly labeled containers. Since different label formats are available for a multitude of container geometries, it is helpful to understand the basics of labeling choices for future projects.

Many different factors should be explored when determining the proper package for a sealant or adhesive. Important considerations include cost, size, compatibility, appearance, ease of disposal, application, and many others—all of which can affect the decision regarding what package system is best for a particular product. Let’s look at an example of how similar factors could apply to a decision many people face on a regular basis.
