While the process steps in a UV LED manufacturing conversion are slightly more involved than a direct-swap mercury replacement, the benefits are often significant and well worth the time and effort.
In industrial manufacturing, companies often push the life of capital equipment in the hope of optimizing operational costs by utilizing assets that have long since been paid off. However, when the line goes down and failure ultimately occurs, companies can be left scrambling to secure the necessary replacements to resume production. When direct replacements and spare parts are standard and readily available, this practice is justifiable and cost effective. In cases where replacement items have long lead times or have become obsolete and replaced by technology that is not a drop-in solution, waiting until failure can be disastrous to a company’s bottom line.
New, first-time RadTech conference sessions include Industry 4.0, Exterior Coatings, Dual Cure, and Micro-patterning.
December 3, 2019
With a focus on 3D printing, new materials, UV LEDs, and sustainability, RadTech has announced the conference program for RadTech UV+EB Technology Expo and Conference 2020, which will be held March 8-11 at the Disney Coronado Springs in Orlando, Fla.
Adhesive and coating systems that use ultraviolet (UV) or visible light to begin the curing are intrinsically very attractive systems to the manufacturing engineer, allowing assembly of components and then “curing on command” by exposing to the radiation.
In addition to showcasing products in the tabletop area, Sartomer representatives will give several presentations during the RadTech Europe conference.

Excelitas Technologies recently announced that it will showcase its OmniCure AC series LED UV curing systems at the IWCS 2019 Cable and Connectivity Symposium.
The Senate resolution recognizes UV+EB technology as pollution prevention processes that, unlike conventional technologies, emit little to no harmful emissions.
September 19, 2019
The California State Senate has adopted a resolution recognizing the benefits of ultraviolet (UV) and electron beam (EB) technologies, as well as the contributions of RadTech—The UV+EB Technology Non Profit Trade Association.
As adhesives become more prevalent and accepted in industry, the more varied the formulations have become—and by corollary, the more diverse the curing mechanisms.
