Evonik recently officially opened its new multi-purpose silicones manufacturing facility in Geesthacht, Germany.
Reactive hot-melt (RHM or HMPUR) adhesives are solid prepolymers terminated in reactive groups (-NCO-) manufactured from mixtures of solid and liquid polyester/ether polyols with isocyanates, which are very low in free isocyanates.

Evonik Industries recently announced that a research team led by Matthias Beller, Ph.D., director of the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis at the University of Rostock (LIKAT Rostock), and Robert Franke, Ph.D., of Evonik Performance Materials GmbH, has succeeded in double carbonylating 1,3-butadiene directly to produce adipates (salts of adipic acid).
The transaction comprises a cash purchase price of approximately $1.93 billion, which includes estimated adjustments to the purchase price for working capital, plus the transfer of up to approximately $76 million in net underfunded pension and other post-employment benefit liabilities.
