Silicone compounds are used to coat, seal, and encapsulate components, protecting electronics under even the most challenging conditions. What is the best choice for your application?
With ELASTOSIL® LR 3078, WACKER is expanding its portfolio of self-adhesive liquid silicone rubbers with a product line that adheres specifically to polycarbonate.
Form-in-place gasket (FIPG) sealants are well-established in the automotive sector for seal applications such as oil pans, drive trains, and cooling systems. However, innovations in automotive design have led to substantial changes in how FIPGs are used today. Heuristics established for previous generations of designs and materials are no longer applicable.
Whether using a silicone adhesive in an aerospace assembly or manufacturing silicone bakeware, post-cure for silicone is not a process that belongs in the past.
Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) may find that post-curing can bring value to certain applications. To determine if post-cure is the best option, it’s important to better understand what is happening during the process, the advantages it offers, and key best practices.
Newly developed UV-activated, dual-cure silicones can protect sensors in autonomous vehicles from the heat, cold, moisture, and stress that result from the rigors of the automotive environment.
May 11, 2022
Automobile manufacturers have identified approximately 200 sensor areas around the vehicle that will be instrumental in achieving commercialization and meeting safety goals for autonomous vehicles. The main commonality is the need to protectively seal these key sensor platform areas from the heat, cold, moisture, and stress that result from the rigors of the automotive environment.
Several key trends will help drive the 6.1% CAGR expected for automotive adhesive tape revenues through 2028.
February 9, 2022
Automotive adhesive tapes are lighter than mechanical fasteners such as screws and fasteners and simplify the automobile manufacturing process. The global automotive adhesive tapes market was valued at $8.7 billion in 2020 and is expected to account for $13.8 billion by 2028.
Henkel has launched a global innovation call for separating plastic from silicone waste.
February 4, 2022
In collaboration with ChileGlobal Ventures, the venture capital arm of Fundación Chile, Henkel Chile has launched the global Seal the Cycle initiative to find technological solutions for plastic waste. The goal of the initiative is innovation in separating high-density polyethylene (HDPE) from silicone waste to enable the recycling of cartridges that cannot currently be reprocessed.
ViscoTec recently introduced cartridge applicators featuring Festo pneumatic control modules for the exact and clean feeding of adhesives, pastes, and silicones of different viscosities.
